In July of this year Lee & Diane Shumway reached out to me. The Shumway's were in the process of building a new home, a home with a full compliment of ADA accessibility as Lee had been diagnosed with ALS in 2017. Lee new that his battle was coming to an end, his hope and goal was to live out his days in a home that would make life easier for his wife to care for his needs. When the call came in, there contractor had walked off the project at about 90% complete, all because Lee had asked him to justify the man hours he was billing for, as this was a time a material contract. The Shumway's have since learned that invoiceing submitted to them for subcontractors was also being padded up, there contract had stated "subs at cost". After going through the home to evaluate, meeting with the building commissioner and the attorney, we were finally able to get started on fixing and finishing. I would love to list all that was wrong, but the list contained about 80 different items, some of those I have talked about in this video. Lee was able to move in on Friday November 20th, 24 hours later Lee was taken to the hospital where he passed away Saturday evening. Lee could of had 3 months in his home, had the contractor provided the information that was asked for, and completed the project. I would like to invite you to Western Mass news where you can view Lee's final interview, also if you serach Amanda Shumway you will see the interview she did after her father's passing. Amanda was accompanied by her mother Diane and sister Lindsey. Contractor's like this not only hurt the industry, it also hurts the people they vicitmize.

And... THE REVEAL. It's been a long time coming and the homeowners now get to enjoy their completed Midcentury Modern Renovation. Through all the different things that got in the way, we are grateful that we were able to deliver our clients the vision they had for their home.
